Brian LeSuer

Brian Le Suer has over fifteen years of experience in software development, testing and test automation. Prior to founding Star Quality he served as Executive Vice President of R&D for Segue Software. He has a proven track record of delivering high quality, on-time software products.

February 1997 to present  - Star Quality

Partner/Founder

Provide expertise and services in Software Quality Assurance including QA management, training, test planning, test automation and performance benchmarking. Recent clients and projects include:

  • Arepa, Inc. – Developed a comprehensive test architecture including functional and performance testing for a system of applications that support Broadband Media Distribution including client/server, web storefront and remote UNIX and NT servers.
  • EBSCO Publishing – Developed performance benchmark for internet search engine and an automated "system health check" that is run daily to certify production.
  • Fidelity Investments – Provided project management and SQA expertise to management and staff developing regression tests for mainframe applications in Y2K effort.
  • Kronos, Inc. – Guided and trained QA staff in the development of a test architecture that supports the certification of multiple release versions of a client-server application translated in five languages.

Direct Development, Quality Assurance and Technical Support functions, staff of 58 engineers and a budget of $5.8M. Under Brian's direction Segue had become known in its market segment for excellent technology and solid track record for high quality, on-time deliverables. Promote a productive work environment for collaborative Development, QA and Support with "just enough" process.

Provide Software Quality Assurance domain expertise and product management. Participate with the CTO in the requirements definition and design of Segue products including QualityWorks and SilkTest: QA Partner, QA Organizer and QA Radar.

Represent the company with industry and financial analysts, partners and customers. Key player throughout a highly successful IPO by writing the Prospectus Business Section and representing the company on the road show. Play a major role in setting company direction and policy and in evaluating opportunities for merger and acquisition. Support major sales by participating in high-level customer presentations and negotiations.

Director (Sept 1992) promoted to Vice President QA Services – Sept 1994 to Nov 1995

Started Training and Consulting Department for Segue by establishing objectives, hiring, training and motivating staff, designing courses and programs and directing implementation of services. Managed QA consulting jobs from assessment and proposal through delivery. Exceeded revenue commitments and managed a profitable P&L.

Developed Segue’s internal Quality Assurance Department by establishing test methodology and standards, attracting a highly skilled staff of test engineers and providing a climate for innovation. Many of Segue’s projects achieve 100% test automation and can be completely regressed over night. As a vendor of automated testing tools, Brian set and maintained high standards for quality.

May 1991 to September 1992   - Datalogix International

Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Managed the development and implementation of an automated testing strategy for a Process Manufacturing system (now Oracle’s Manufacturing System) including regression and performance testing using a combination of commercial tools, C and shell scripts. Designed test architecture, selected tools, hired and trained staff, managed the development of test plans and scripts and integrated automated test execution into the culture and process of the QA department.

January 1989 to May 1991 - Peoples Bank

Senior Quality Assurance Analyst

Managed the Software Quality Assurance process and provided project management for the implementation of UNISYS Global Financial Systems. Developed test methodology, test strategy and acceptance criteria, developed test schedule for complex of interfacing systems, instructed user/analysts on development of detail test plans and scripts and coordinated test execution process. Developed automated discrepancy reporting and tracking process and system. Promoted use of technology to improve productivity by selecting and installing testing tools to support department strategies, training test team members and consulting on automated test development. Managed change management and source code control functions.

July 1981 to January 1989  - The Travelers

Quality Assurance - Assistant Manager

Managed unit activities and staff responsible for the development of business requirements, system design, project management and execution of test procedures for office automation systems. Provided a liaison with business community and developers. Established and maintained system controls and monitored error correction.

Technical Analyst

Developed procedures and training material for office automation systems. Wrote scripts, designed workshops and instructed class of non-technical users.
