This course is designed for anyone who is new to software test automation or has been involved with automation efforts which have yielded disappointing results in the past.

Developing software test automation with the Star Quality Automation Methodology provides the following benefits:

bulletAutomated tests are up and running FAST, and may even eliminate the need to manually test large areas of the product under test.
bulletOur straightforward test engine makes your tests easy to develop and maintain.
bulletThe Star Quality approach enables everyone on the team to contribute to the automation. With our architecture, there are less tasks which require programmers and more tasks which can be performed by people who know the product to be tested.

Developing a sound methodology, architecture and system of standards is crucial to a successful test automation project. We have refined our processes and techniques through many projects over several years and have developed a comprehensive tool-independent methodology that is easy to implement and maintain.

This intensive three day, hands-on course follows a testing project from start to finish and will prepare the student to replicate our methodology for building a test architecture including:

bulletStructuring a test plan for automation
bulletPrioritizing automation objectives
bulletDeveloping a test engine
bulletBuilding test cases
bulletCreating reusable test data
bulletTricks of the trade

The student will also receive a sample copy of Star Quality’s Tool Box of utilities. These tools will enable you to get your own tests up and running quickly in your environment.

Course Pre-requisite:
The student should have an understanding of structured programming or automated testing. While the course is applicable to any automated testing tool/language, the material will be presented using SilkTest®. Previous experience with SilkTest is not required.
