Test planning is the most critical phase of a testing project. Yet it is the least understood and most overlooked set of tasks in the SQA lifecycle. Done properly, test planning provides the necessary input for evaluating resource requirements, estimating and scheduling testing tasks and defining acceptance criteria. It provides a framework for monitoring progress throughout the entire project.
